POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Warehouse Manager to lead operations at our 100,000 sq ft distribution center in Dorval. As a key operational leader, this role is responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, inventory management, value-added services (VAS), staffing, and safety compliance.
The Warehouse Manager will ensure the consistent achievement of service level agreements (SLAs) while driving operational efficiency, process optimization, and continuous improvement. This role requires a proactive leader who can balance hands-on operational execution with strategic process improvement, leveraging technology and data to improve productivity, accuracy, and scalability.
The successful candidate will foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture while ensuring the distribution center supports the company’s growth within the sporting goods retail distribution industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse Operations & Performance
- Lead and oversee daily operations of the (x sq ft) distribution center, ensuring efficient and accurate inbound and outbound processing.
- Ensure consistent achievement of service level agreements (SLAs) for order fulfillment, shipping, and value-added services.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement performance improvements to maximize productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
- Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, process controls, and system integrity.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a warehouse team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Plan staffing and capacity based on seasonal demand, business priorities, and operational targets.
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing training and development.
- Build and maintain cross-training programs to ensure operational continuity and flexibility.
Process Improvement & Operational Optimization
- Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across all warehouse processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve warehouse layout, workflow, picking strategies, and inventory flow.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on labor productivity, space utilization, and cost optimization.
- Analyze operational data and KPIs to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions that improve throughput and service levels.
Systems & Technology
- Ensure effective use and ongoing optimization of the Warehouse Management System (HighJump).
- Support system improvements, reporting capabilities, and process automation initiatives.
- Champion the use of technology and data to enhance operational visibility and decision-making.
Safety, Compliance & Facility Management
- Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations, including CNESST requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and adherence to workplace standards.
- Oversee facility organization, equipment usage, and operational safety practices.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Oversee inventory management processes including cycle counting, discrepancy resolution, and inventory flow.
- Manage procurement and utilization of warehouse supplies including packaging materials, boxes, and operational consumables.
- Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams including sales, purchasing, and customer service to support business objectives.
- Contribute to long-term operational planning and ensure the distribution center is positioned to support future growth.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of warehouse and distribution experience, preferably within a retail, wholesale, or consumer goods environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing warehouse teams in high-volume or SLA-driven operations.
- Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience managing inventory control, cycle counting, and warehouse best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); HighJump experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience establishing SOPs, tracking KPIs, and driving operational improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Solid understanding of health and safety standards and CNESST compliance.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
