REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The VAS & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inbound receiving, returns processing, and value-added services (VAS) within a fast-paced distribution center environment. This role leads a team consisting of an Order Picker (put-away), Receiving Associate, Returns Associate, and VAS Associates to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.

In addition to core responsibilities, this role will act as a back-up support for Order Pool activities as needed. The ideal candidate will foster an agile, team-first environment, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and adaptability to meet changing operational demands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and support a team including Receiving, Returns, VAS Associates, and Order Picker (put-away)
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure operational targets are met
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
  • Promote an agile, collaborative, and team-oriented culture across all functions
  • Lead by example in supporting other departments, including stepping in where needed

Receiving Operations

  • Oversee inbound shipments, ensuring accurate verification, inspection, and system receiving
  • Ensure packing slips and purchase orders are matched and discrepancies are resolved promptly
  • Coordinate unloading and staging of goods while maintaining safety standards
  • Partner with Purchasing and Customer Service to resolve documentation or shipment issues

Returns Processing

  • Supervise high-volume returns processing, ensuring accuracy in inspection, classification, and system entry
  • Ensure returned goods are routed correctly (restock, damage, disposal, etc.)
  • Identify and escalate recurring issues or discrepancies to improve processes
  • Maintain strong communication with Customer Service regarding return authorizations

VAS (Value-Added Services)

  • Oversee execution of VAS activities including labeling, tagging, folding, packaging, and ticketing
  • Ensure all work meets customer, retail, and quality standards
  • Monitor daily production targets and adjust staffing or workflow as needed
  • Drive efficiency improvements within VAS processes

Inventory & Put-Away Coordination

  • Supervise put-away activities to ensure accurate and timely storage of products
  • Ensure proper location management and warehouse organization standards are maintained

Order Pool Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as back-up support for Order Pool operations during peak periods or coverage gaps
  • Assist in prioritizing and releasing orders to ensure timely fulfillment
  • Collaborate closely with outbound and picking teams to maintain workflow balance
  • Promote flexibility within the team to support multiple functions as business needs evolve

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate system transactions within WMS/ERP
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices
  • Track KPIs related to receiving accuracy, returns processing, VAS productivity, and overall operational flow

Hands-On Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Actively support warehouse operations during peak periods, including unloading trucks, picking, packing, or other tasks as required
  • Step into different functions to support team needs and maintain operational flow
  • Promote a culture where teamwork and adaptability are prioritized across all departments
  • Collaborate closely with Shipping, Picking, and Inventory teams to ensure alignment

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education is an asset
  • 2–5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Experience with receiving, returns, VAS, or order management (Order Pool) operations is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with WMS/ERP systems
  • Forklift License is an asset but not mandatory
