REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Planning & Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing outbound order planning, picking, packing, and shipping operations within a fast-paced distribution center environment. This role leads a team of Order Pickers and Shippers to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely fulfillment of customer orders.
We are seeking an agile, hands-on leader who leads by example and embraces a true team-first mindset. This role requires a “no task is too small” attitude—whether supporting picking, helping unload trucks during peak periods, or stepping into other operational areas as needed. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to teamwork, flexibility, and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and support a team of 4 Order Pickers (outbound) and 2 Shippers
- Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure fulfillment targets and SLAs are met
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing performance feedback
- Foster a strong team culture built on collaboration, accountability, and mutual support
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach across all warehouse functions
Outbound Planning & Order Flow
- Plan and prioritize daily order fulfillment based on volume, urgency, and carrier schedules
- Coordinate order release and workflow to ensure efficient picking, packing, and shipping
- Collaborate with Order Pool and other departments to balance workload and meet deadlines
- Monitor order flow through the system to prevent bottlenecks and delays
Picking Operations
- Oversee accurate and efficient order picking using RF scanners and order picker equipment
- Ensure compliance with location accuracy, inventory control, and picking procedures
- Support put-away or replenishment activities as needed to maintain flow
Shipping & Packing Operations
- Oversee packing, quality control, and shipment preparation processes
- Ensure all orders are verified, packed, labeled, and shipped accurately and on time
- Confirm compliance with carrier requirements (UPS, FedEx, Canada Post, etc.) and system guidelines
- Monitor cartonization, labeling accuracy, and shipping documentation
Hands-On Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Actively support warehouse operations during peak periods, including unloading trucks, picking, packing, or other tasks as required
- Step into different functions to support team needs and maintain operational flow
- Promote a culture where teamwork and adaptability are prioritized across all departments
- Collaborate closely with Receiving, VAS, Returns, and Inventory teams to ensure alignment
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate system transactions within WMS/ERP systems
- Track and report on KPIs including order accuracy, productivity, and on-time shipping
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices
- Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education is an asset
- 2–5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Experience in outbound shipping, order planning, or fulfillment operations required
- Familiarity with WMS/ERP systems and RF scanning technology
- Forklift License is preferred

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move products (up to 30 lbs)
