POSITION SUMMARY
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring proper tracking of all inventory transactions within the distribution center. This role monitors inventory movements, conducts cycle counts, and investigates discrepancies to ensure product availability and system accuracy.
Working closely with warehouse operations and internal departments, the Inventory Control Specialist helps ensure inventory processes are followed and supports the overall efficiency of the distribution center.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Establish and maintain inventory control processes for all brands according to their operational needs.
- Monitor inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and product availability across the distribution center.
- Conduct regular cycle counts following industry best practices to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Plan and coordinate annual full physical inventory counts with external partners.
Inventory Auditing & Discrepancy Management
- Audit picking activities at shipping and investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies.
- Conduct audits of receiving activities and internal stock movements.
- Analyze inventory discrepancies and prepare monthly reports with recommended corrective actions.
Stock Movement & Operational Coordination
- Plan and execute seasonal stock movements by brand to support operational efficiency.
- Process order cancellations to ensure accurate returns of products to inventory.
- Work closely with warehouse teams including receiving, shipping, value-added services (VAS), and sample departments to ensure proper stock handling.
Systems & Data Integrity
- Ensure all inventory processes are accurately completed within the Warehouse Management System (HighJump).
- Perform data validation and system clean-up activities when required to maintain system accuracy.
- Support operational teams in maintaining correct inventory processes and system usage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Communicate with internal departments including Customer Service, Sales, and Product Line Managers to support required stock movements.
- Collaborate with warehouse leadership to resolve inventory issues and support operational priorities.
Continuous Improvement & Facility Oversight
- Conduct regular inspections of inventory storage equipment including racking, storage locations, and permanent bins.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and warehouse efficiency.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to support the continuous improvement of distribution center operations.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–5+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or distribution environments.
- Forklift License required.
- Strong understanding of inventory management processes including cycle counting and discrepancy investigation.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); HighJump experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory tracking tools.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations including receiving, shipping, and internal stock movements.
